The Host is an army comprising an unknown fraction of the armed forces of Anglecynn.
Trial by adversity[]
Instead of direct executions, Anglecynn allows criminals convicted of capital offenses to participate in a "trial by adversity". The criminal in question is airdropped into the Risen Lands, with a tattoo that slows their fall so that they don't die on impact. [1] If they succeed in making their way to a Host outpost, they are allowed to join with a clean record.[2]
